The beating heart of the valley
At the head of the Romanche valley, Le Bourg-d'Oisans is the central town of the Oisans: its Saturday market, shops, restaurants, cheese shop and mineral museum make it the supply and activity hub for the whole area. It's just fifteen minutes from our two properties in La Garde-en-Oisans.
Le Bourg is above all a world capital of cycling: this is where the legendary 21 hairpin bends of Alpe d'Huez begin, the queen stage of the Tour de France and the meeting point for La Marmotte. All around, the great Oisans passes — Croix de Fer, Glandon, Galibier, Sarenne — trace legendary loops.
By staying in La Garde rather than in town, you get the best of both worlds: the shops and buzz of Le Bourg a short drive away, and the absolute calm of a south-facing hamlet to recover in — private hammam included, after a big day out.
